Why Should My Wedding Be Professionally Filmed?
"STOCKS KNOCKED BY ECONOMIC FEARS"
"DESPITE ACTIONS, FED SEES ECONOMIC DOWNTURN LASTING"
"US ECONOMY IN GRIP OF RECESSION"
With headlines like those above, it is easy to understand why engaged couples are wary, now more than ever, of selecting videography as a service for their wedding. However, videography need not be an expensive addition. And for the return you are getting, it is well worth the expense.
Reason #1: Once-in-a-lifetime footage
Your wedding is the day you've dreamed about since you were young. It would be in your best interest to have as much coverage as possible to remember it. Photography is a necessary service for a modern wedding, but video can capture what photos just cannot. While the photographer is focusing on the main event, there are dozens of other special moments that are missed. Photographs can remind you of the memorable events, but they cannot repeat the nervous chatter prior to the ceremony, the vows you made to each other, the toasts from your dearest friends, or the voices of loved ones that you will treasure far into the future.
Reason #2: Family Heirloom
When you look back at photo albums from generations past, do you find yourself
wondering how your relatives sounded, what their mannerisms were, what type
of things they did and said? With a wedding video, your friends and relatives can
look back with you on your wedding day on the way you really were at that point
in time, not just how you looked in a particular photograph. Reception highlights
can be especially entertaining as the years go by.
Reason #3: Everyone else is doing it!
Does that sound like an unwise reason for committing to something? Maybe in
some cases, but for anyone who has not considered a videographer in the past, it
would be prudent for you to communicate with other couples who have had a
wedding video done. Chances are, the majority of them never regretted hiring a
videographer. Here is a survey conducted by
WEVA which inquired as to general
satisfaction with the decision to have your wedding filmed professionally. This
survey was taken from an excellent wedding help source,
www.weddingdetails.com. This nationwide survey was conducted in 2005.
*98 percent of newlyweds recommend brides have their wedding videotaped.
*Brides don't appreciate the value of video until after the
wedding: before the wedding, 52 percent of brides consider
video a "Top 10" service; after the wedding, 75 percent of
brides consider video a "Top 10" service.
*38 percent of brides did not have their wedding videotaped by anyone.
*68 percent now either somewhat or strongly recommend that future brides hire a professional videographer.
*98 percent of brides surveyed used the services of a professional photographer, whereas-
*only 29 percent of brides surveyed used the services of a professional videographer. (This allows for competitive pricing!!!)
Those who used both agreed that video does a better job of
1) capturing the emotions of the day
2) recording the history of the day
3) creating a visual memory that future children will enjoy more.
When asked, "If you had a choice between looking at your grandparent's wedding photos or their wedding video, which would you choose?" 61% of brides said they would rather see the video.
